It looks like I’ll have to find new homes for Shocked – which has been published since February – and Of Sawdust and Seduction, which was due for release on 8th July.
Wicked Nights now requires their authors to be more hands-on with regards to contributing critiques, cover art, edits etc. While I’d love to help out, I just don’t have the time, so I’ve agreed to pull Shocked and that Of Sawdust won’t be released next week.
While this sucks on the surface, it also means I get to add to them and try them elsewhere. When I submitted Shocked, I didn’t really expect it to get picked up anywhere – it’s under 6,000 words, and there was probably more I could have done to expand upon it. Of Sawdust is around 6,000 words, too, and I could probably bump them both up to 10,000 words at least – that would mean they’d have a better chance out there in the big, wide world.
What I am sad about is that a lot of publishers prefer to do their own cover art – which means I probably won’t be able to use the pretties that my friend Abby made for me. 🙁 Maybe I’ll get lucky with a publisher who will – we’ll see.
I’d like to thank Wicked Nights for giving me my first publishing acceptances, and wish them the very best in the future.
Sooo… my next release will now be on the 26th September, for Battle of Thrills. And guess what? I’m going to be insufferably impatient until then. 😉
